Combining a years worth of recorded material with live performances, Abandoned In Sleep is Jonathan Lee's second solo album under his Anduin moniker. It's an amplified document of the moments before sleep, living dreams drenched in warm low end, full of shadowy audio treasures. Dark ambient electronica made for headphones or high volume turntable play. Contains studio, sampled, and live contributions from artists like John Twells (Xela), Stefan Nemeth (Radian, Lokai), Dag Rosenqvist (Jasper TX), Noah Saval (Souvenir's Young America), Erik Skodvin (Svarte Greiner, Deaf Center), Gareth Davis, Stephen Vitiello, and Slow News Day. Pareidolia is the first vinyl collection from Khate, Virginia's one woman orchestra of odd instruments and an artist who embraces the significance of random sound. Each sound is absorbed, enhanced by all the sounds that follow, until the listener is transported someplace supernatural. Circuit bent electronics, synths, and other devices buzz, throb, and fizzle in a fog of found sound. You become trapped in rhythmic hypnosis, dancing in the dark corners of a forgotten place with memories that aren't your own. Limited edition of 300 copies housed in silkscreened covers. SMTG 12-016 :: EKKEHARD EHLERS + PAUL WIRKUS - BALLADS LP ::
One of electronic music's most enigmatic artists, Ekkehard Ehlers, teams up with percussionist Paul Wirkus for a selection of freeform avant-garde compositions that cross-pollinate the building blocks of jazz with extreme and often highly adventurous electronic treatments. Its boundlessly explorotory nature makes it an enthralling listen throughout. Originally intended to be a digital only release by Staubgold, the material has been remastered by James Plotkin to create this wonderfully warm sounding vinyl release. Limited edition of 300 copies and will not be repressed again. Comes in a beautiful, two color silkscreened jacket.
 
 
 
SMTG 12-014 :: ANDUIN + JASPER TX - THE BENDING OF LIGHT LP+CD ::
The Bending Of Light is a collaboration between Gothenburg Sweden's Jasper TX (aka Dag Rosenqvist) and Richmond Virginia's Anduin (aka Jonathan Lee). These six tracks, titled with quotes from Carl Sagan about the formation of a black hole, are monstrous vacuums of darkness broken apart by rays of light. The deep guitar tones and wavering synthesizers layered over waves of textured sound creates electronica that's totally subtle yet strikingly beautiful. A wonderful addition to both artist's growing catalog of music. Artwork by Dan Owen. Mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate). LP version is limited 300 copies in silkscreened jackets with both the vinyl and the CD inside.
 

 
SMTG 12-012 :: XELA - HEIRS OF THE FIRE LP ::
Blissed out vocals turn into a choir that rolls off into layers of sound, both electric and acoustic. Heirs Of The Fire is John Twell's sonic interpretation of a quote from the Koran. It's a more melodic and mysterious Xela record than some might expect, but it still holds plenty of darkness. Recorded live in one take using vocals, guitar, and a sampler, this was originally released by the UK artist on CDR before his last US tour. This version of the recording includes drums by Mike Weis (Zelienople) to mimic the live shows he's done with Xela playing this very material. Mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate). Art by Erik Skodvin (Svarte Greiner). Housed in a two color, silkscreened jacket.

SMTG 7-013 :: SVARTE GREINER + ANDUIN - BLACK RIVER (LIVE) 7" ::
Svarte Greiner's Erik Skodvin performed his first US shows in 2008 and many of those dates were with Anduin's Jonathan Lee. Each night after their solo sets, the two artists would do an improv collaboration to cap off the evening. This recording capture's one of these performances. Titled by combining the interpretations of both artist's names, Black River (Live) is a slow rolling yet powerful wall of sound that continues to build until the very end. Limited to 300 copies and housed in a black sleeve. Mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate).

Kenneth Yates is a productive guy. He's made a name for himself working on projects like 804 Noise, Harm Stryker, and Insects With Tits, but with Caustic Castle you find his noise fine tuned. The warbles, clicks, hisses, and buzz still remain amazingly musical, especially with the addition of sax from Clifford Schwing. Noah Saval is a harmonica giant and not just because of his huge stature. His contributions to bands like Souvenir's Young America have brought him rave reviews and this, his first solo outing, can be called nothing other than Future Blues. Layers of harmonica make sounds you've never heard a harmonica make, thanks in part to electronic and organ contributions from Anduin.
